From showcasing the resilience of local businesses to highlighting the impact of non-profit organizations, video offers an unparalleled medium for communication, engagement, and growth.

Enhanced Brand Storytelling

Video provides a unique platform to tell your brand’s story in a compelling and memorable way. Unlike static text or images, video can convey emotion, authenticity, and personality, allowing your audience to connect with your brand on a deeper level. Whether you’re a long-standing local business or a burgeoning startup, video can effectively communicate your values, mission, and the unique benefits you offer to the Permian Basin community.

Increased Engagement and Reach

In today’s digital age, video content dominates online platforms. From social media feeds to website homepages, videos capture attention and encourage longer engagement. Businesses utilizing video production in Midland and Odessa can significantly increase their online visibility, reaching a wider audience within the Permian Basin and beyond. This translates to more website traffic, increased social media shares, and ultimately, a stronger presence in the market.

Building Trust and Credibility

Seeing is believing, and video excels at building trust and credibility. Through testimonials, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and demonstrations of your products or services, video allows potential customers to see the real people and processes behind your business. This transparency fosters confidence and helps establish your brand as a reliable and trustworthy entity in the Permian Basin.

Driving Conversions and Sales

Ultimately, the goal of any marketing effort is to drive business growth. Video production is a highly effective tool for achieving this. By clearly illustrating the value of your offerings, addressing customer pain points, and showcasing successful outcomes, video can significantly influence purchasing decisions. Whether you’re looking to generate leads, increase online sales, or encourage in-store visits, a well-produced video can be a powerful catalyst for conversion.

Versatility Across Platforms

One of the greatest benefits of video production is its versatility. A single video can be repurposed and optimized for various platforms, maximizing its impact. From short, punchy clips for social media to longer, in-depth narratives for your website or presentations, video can be tailored to suit different communication needs and target audiences across the diverse business sectors of the Permian Basin.

Explore Our Super Bowl Commercials

Affinity Overhead Door Co Super Bowl Commercial in Midland

Affinity Overhead Door Co: Cavemen

This commercial was a fun combination of bringing together contemporary luxuries with prehistoric circumstances. We used our video production skills to take a bizarre idea and make it reality.

Affinity Steel Super bowl Commercial in West Texas

Affinity Steel: Robots

This set of commercials was a fun one. Taking humanoid and mech sized robots and putting them in a pretty typical situation was fun. The VFX and Chill show described it saying that it was set up for something epic and turned out to be humorously underwhelming.

Dobbs Law Firm Juror Number 1 Permian Basin Video Production

Dobbs Law Firm: Juror Number 1

In 2025, we brought the visual effects to the Dobbs Law Firm when we needed to place a juror in a courtroom. It was no easy feat to pull off against the clock, but we made it happen with the help of Hannah at KMID

Super Bowl Commercial for Affinity Steel using Midland/Odessa Video Production

Affinity Steel: Finding Affinity

At their first location, Affinity Steel knew they were difficult to find and they wanted to capitalize on it. So we wrote this Super Bowl campaign to bring that message home in a reality-TV sort of way.

Dobbs Law Firm Unthinkable Commercial in Odessa Texas

Dobbs Law Firm: Unthinkable

This was the first Super Bowl commercial we shot for the Dobbs Law Firm. Utilizing heavy visual effects, we recreated a massive car accident that left our actress fielding questions about her hospital stay after the ad was released (no one was harmed in the making of this commercial).

Broadcast and TV Commercials in West Texas

Sewell

Our first major set of ads in the Permian Basin was for the Sewell Family of Companies. We had two concepts. The first was how after a long day in the white collar world, the Lincoln SUV was the perfect car for the evening’s family outing.

The second was how the Volkswagen Touareg and Chevy Tahoe are the mom’s choice for delivering snacks after her kid’s athletic events.

Carter’s Furniture

Carter’s Furniture was a great set of ads. One in particular that stands out was their Christmas ad, where by the end of the commercial, we discover that Santa shops at Carter’s Furniture.

Signature Stag

Working with Signature Stag in Midland, was a bit of happenstance when they won some video production credit by supporting a suicide awareness fundraiser that we did. We spent a lot of time setting up the shots to really highlight the level of service and quality that Signature Stag offers to their Midland and Odessa customers.

The Sales Team

The commercials for The Sales Team real estate  were fun and informative. They were testimonial based and gave a great picture of how The Sales Team treats their customers and the types of homes they put them in.

Missy’s Closet

Our first television commercial was for a boutique clothing store named Missy’s Closet and the ad was the story of a handful of store mannequins who came to life every night and had their own fashion shows.

Dobbs Law Firm: Here to Stay

When everything shut down in 2020, the Dobbs Law Firm wanted everyone to know that they weren’t going anywhere. Utilizing our favorite drone pilot, we got some great footage of, not only Midland and Odessa, but the whole West Texas vibe. Combined with an incredible soundscape and beautiful color grading, this television commercial quickly became one of our favorites of all time.

MTCU

Another series of commercials we did in Midland were with MTCU by way of Jessical Rule with SHK The Advertising Firm.

From shooting commercials about savings accounts and KASASA debit cards, to their “March Mania” ads, we had a great time with the team at MTCU

Danny's Asphalt Paving Inc.

Danny reached out to us with the idea of running a commercial that would hammer home that they are a West Texas business through and through. Not another fly-by-night company that sells shoddy work and moves to the next town.

The video production took a couple of days culminating in Jacob getting a Danny’s back tattoo (it was not his first choice for his first tattoo).

Permian High School

For a couple years in a row, we were hired to video the promotional commercials for the Permian High School tennis teams big fundraiser: Guns and Glory. Both ideas were wildly different but effective nonetheless.

More Than Just Commercials: Full-Service Video Production in the Permian Basin

Two things tend to come to mind when it comes to video: television commercials and weddings (and, no, we don’t do weddings). However, there are so many more uses for video in your business and organization.

Testimonials

One of the best uses of video production when trying to close new business is the use of video testimonials. Google reviews can be great, but they generally lack a certain level of sentiment and, sometimes, credibility.

Do you have happy customers? Ask them to tell the world.

Nothing will sell you better than real people telling real stories about their experiences with you.

For the Dobbs Law Firm in Odessa, TX, we have been producing testimonials for nearly 10 years. What is interesting about these testimonials is that they all say the same thing. There is a common thread among every story. The details may be different, but the message is the same: Spencer Dobbbs and his team care.

For the Midland Float Spa, we spent a couple of days sitting down with their customers listening as they shared their experiences. Additionally, we spent a couple of days helping them put together a video that customers can watch so they know what to expect with their entire float spa experience.

Employee Onboarding & Training

In Midland and Odessa, the workplace is dynamic, with new employees regularly joining while current staff members transition to new opportunities. Have you ever considered how much time your business or organization invests in training new hires on the same topics repeatedly? What if you could save significant costs by consolidating that training into a well-structured series of videos? Many oil and gas companies have recognized this advantage for years, alongside numerous larger businesses and organizations. The reason is straightforward: video production for training is not only efficient but also effective. It ensures that every new employee receives the same crucial information, thereby reducing the likelihood of missed details or errors during the training process. Embracing this method can lead to a smoother onboarding experience and a more informed workforce.

Safety Videos

Ensuring the safety of new employees and guests is essential, and establishing consistent safety protocols is key. Video production is an effective medium for conveying this crucial information, ensuring all necessary safety instructions are presented uniformly, regardless of the viewer’s status. This approach not only guarantees that critical safety messages are delivered with the same clarity and emphasis but also enhances engagement and retention through dynamic visuals and practical demonstrations. Videos serve as accessible resources that individuals can revisit to reinforce their understanding of protocols. Ultimately, utilizing video for safety training reflects a commitment to a strong safety culture, prioritizing the well-being of everyone in your facility while investing in safety, operational efficiency, and legal compliance.

Our Origin Story

Starting from the ground up

Some movie directors tell their stories of growing up knowing that they wanted to make movies. That was not the case for us.  The Hamil family has always been creative, no question, but it wasn’t until Ross was in high school at Midland Christian School that he discovered his love for using video production to tell stories.

2001

The Spark of Inspiration

In 2001, Ross was in his second mandatory year of Spanish class. He had discovered he had a knack for the language, but, what really set off the spark was when his teacher, Mrs. Crockett, assigned their first video project: a fashion show.

They were supposed to learn the words for different articles of clothing and make a video of a DIY fashion show to show what they had learned.

As Mrs. Crockett was showing examples of past videos, Ross recounts sitting there thinking of how ineffective they were. The audio was bad, they were uninteresting, and, if any attempt at humor was made, it was generally an inside joke of the student(s) on-screen.

He decided his video project was going to be different. He formulated an idea for using well-known characters (cartoon, musicians, and movie characters).

With a little bit of West Texas redneck ingenuity, he shot the scenes on a camcorder, then edited the whole thing together running the camcorder to a VCR and routing the audio through a karaoke machine in order to add a voice over and music.

The video was a success.

2003

Stoking the Fires

By the time Ross graduated from high school, he was being hired to shoot and edit projects for other students (with teachers’ permission) and was being sent home from school to edit projects that he had been hired to do for different athletics teams.

Throughout his high school career, Ross did several more projects, roping in Jacob as a visual gag from time to time.

2011

The Birth of Hamil Bros Studios

The goal wasn’t to become the number 1 Midland/Odessa video production company, but that was the track Ross was on.

After graduating, Ross did a few small projects like music videos, educational pharmaceutical films and mission trip highlight videos for church groups, but couldn’t get the results he really wanted. So, he put a pin in it until early 2011, when his cousin introduced him to a camera with a good-sized sensor that would shoot in 24 frames per second.

Working on honing his craft and building a skillset in the first part of the year, Ross’ break came when, in August of 2011, he was offered a contract by the Midland Christian football team to shoot the study films and highlight videos.

Within the year, Ross was asked to shoot his first commercial for Missy’s Closet by way of Laicy at Mad Marketing.

Since then, it has been a fast track of building bigger and better video production for businesses in Midland and Odessa, Texas.

Now

Growth and Recognition

Since their beginning, Hamil Bros Studios has produced hundreds of videos with clients ranging from small start-ups to international brands with production budgets up to half a million dollars.
