United Supermarkets

Welcome to our blog series centered around Season 3 of Hub City Spokes, the podcast we got to produce in partnership with the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance! Before we jump in, if you want to subscribe to the podcast or check it out on LEDA’s website, you can find it here.

Episode 5 gives you a peek into the grocery store industry and how United Supermarkets is adapting to the hand we’ve all been dealt. Robert is a home-grown, Lubbock native and has a great heart for Lubbock and for serving people. He’s seen a LOT of different things roll through Lubbock. Namely, the famous Lubbock Tornado of 1970.

In this episode, Robert talks about how involved United Supermarkets is in the Lubbock community and how they were able to talk to some Chinese and Italian grocery businesses to see how best they could be prepared for the coming storm. He’s very honest about what worked and what didn’t and it is evident they’re doing their best to bring the best service they can to all their stores. We hope you enjoy this episode!

If you enjoyed this podcast, we’ll be posting blogs on each for the next 6 weeks after this one. Let us know what you think!
