Our Ongoing Partnership

A Creative Alliance with HAW Lubbock

We’re now in our third year of working with the Hispanic Association of Women in Lubbock. The Hispanic Association of Women’s goal is to empower women by offering solutions to higher education with the long term goal of impacting the greater South Plains communities.

This is an incredible organization that we’ve been able to make videos for for the last 3 years! Our team is proud to specialize in Hispanic Association of Women Video Production. We are dedicated to providing Hispanic Association of Women Video Production services that make a lasting impression.

The 2025 HAW Gala Project

Crafting a Vision for the Future

The 2025 HAW Gala brought us some different and unique challenges when it came to shooting. This year’s theme was the Monarch Butterfly and how generation after generation pass on their legacy. With that we wanted some more generational speakers that could speak on how the Hispanic Association of Women has impacted their families as a whole, not just them individually.

We approached this Hispanic Association of Women Video Production project with fresh ideas and tailored solutions. Every Hispanic Association of Women Video Production we take on is a new opportunity to tell a story that matters.

The ladies at HAW found us an INCREDIBLE home to film in for the duration of our interviews. We rarely get the chance to work in such luxury, but this amazing house accommodated us very well! We had 20 ft ceilings which is a luxury in our business. This meant we could work vertically unlike most of our shoots.

The Lighting Setup

Understanding Our Illumination Techniques

The lighting for these interviews was pretty interesting. Before any actual lights went up, we had a 20 ft tall bay window we had to manage. With the way the house faces, we had to block that window for most of the day to keep unwanted sunlight from blasting our interviewee. We put up some 4×8 black solids to manage the large window.

After that, we got to work on our key light. We love our Aputure 1200D pro and we felt like this was a great opportunity for a large source, book light. We used our 8×8 Matthews Matthbounce as the bounce source for the 1200d. We REALLY loved the results we got from just that and then it was time to build the rest of the scene. We used our Amaran 300C and light dome mini as a front fill and positioned it high enough that it wouldn’t reflect in glasses.

There was this beautiful balcony up behind our on screen talent which we thought would be the perfect opportunity for a back light that was completely out of sight. Unfortunately, the light, even with a spotlight attachment, wasn’t as bright as we had hoped, so we moved it down stairs to get it closer to our talent. The balcony was a dream, but it didn’t work out.

Our background took a lot more light than we anticipated. We always want things to balance between what feels natural and what looks cool. In this instance, we were more concerned with bringing up ambient light levels just to match what was on the forefront of our shots. We popped up an Amaran 150C in the small dining area to lift the levels there. Back behind the dining area, we threw in an Aputure Nova P300C Panel in the hallway leading into the kitchen.

In the kitchen, behind the fireplace you can see in the shot directly behind talent, we hid some Amaran 150Cs to just lift the ambient light level of the kitchen.

When it comes to lighting, there’s typically a lot more than what meets the eye with us. But, we’re going to use that arsenal to make it look immaculate for every Hispanic Association of Women Video Production session.

The Camera Gear

Exploring Our Equipment Arsenal

We talk religiously about our Blackmagic cameras and we do that because we’ve worked with them going on 13 years at this point. The technology has made leaps and bounds and with the steady growth of our production company, the upgrades having robbed us of every last cent. That’s how we know it’s the right choice. For this shoot, we used our Blackmagic Pyxis 6K as our primary, A camera. On that camera we had the Tokina Cinema Vista 50mm prime lens.

Our B camera was the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K Full Frame with the Tokina Cinema Vista 85mm prime lens. This B cam was also doing ping pong motion on our motion control rig. That rig comprises of a standard Dana Dolly complimented by the Emotimo ST4.3 system. That entire rig is impressive and we love that it allows for our interviews to have some dynamic motion rather than just locked off tripod cameras.

The Stories That Matter

Capturing Compelling Narratives

One of the HAW scholarship recipients

The stories accumulated in these interviews in a way that was really beautiful. It’s amazing when you work with a brand for a continuous amount of years how you really see the thread of their core values shine. With these interviews, that thread was very apparent.

Even though we had multiple young ladies in this interview, the story (minus various details) was the same. The message came through clear that the Hispanic Association of Women is making strides to change lives of women across the South Plains by granting them scholarship dollars to further their education.

We had stories of a daughter whose mother also received the HAW scholarship. We had a story of two sisters who stumbled across the scholarship and both wound up receiving it. We hear the story time and time again of how this scholarship empowers these women to continue to fight for their education even when it gets hard because they want to honor the gift and opportunity they’ve received.

That’s the power of HAW, and why Hispanic Association of Women Video Production is so meaningful to us. Hispanic Association of Women Video Production allows us to highlight these inspiring journeys.

The Liggett Law Group's Role

Our final piece to this production puzzle was the Liggett Law Group. Ted Liggett and his team partner with us to make this production happen every year because Ted not only believes in this incredible organization, he believes in telling their story. Once the interviews were done, we just needed to capture our last small introduction with Ted. The Liggett Law Group office is always so kind and inviting to us when we arrive, making sure we can get our job done effectively and efficiently.

In this instance, with a little bit of groaning, Ted convinced his entire staff to be present while we filmed his introduction to this video. With that in mind, we had to light things for an entire group of 20+ people rather than our standard 2-3. But we managed to do that just fine by having a large source key light (Aputure 1200D plus the lightdome 150) and some 4 ft LED tube back lights. We had a smiling group of beautiful faces and Ted and Gary, his COO, were able to deliver their words and we were on our way.

Presenting the Final Video

The Stories That Matter

The HAW gala takes place at the Frasier Alumni Pavillion on Texas Tech Campus. It’s one of our more favorite live gala locations in town. The small caveat is that this Hispanic Association of Women fundraising gala took place the same night as the Texas Tech Men’s Basketball final four tournament game. That delayed us a small bit but ultimately the gala went off without a hitch and they managed to raise a huge amount of money for scholarships! We received a ton of great feedback from the audience on the impact of the video and were told later from the ladies at HAW that people just gushed over the video.

Hispanic Association of Women Video Production is not just about making a video; it’s about helping create opportunities and change. Every Hispanic Association of Women Video Production project we complete reinforces our commitment to this mission.
