Keith Winters’ Story

We’ve been telling Spring Creek Ministries stories for years, and this Keith Winters video testimonial is one that sticks with you. Keith met Lonnie as a fishing buddy out on O.H. Ivie Lake (near San Angelo, Texas), started supporting the ministry after reading one of their pamphlets, and then found himself on the receiving end of that same care when stage-four cancer hit in November of 2025.

Lonnie and Spring Creek Ministries showed up for the appointments, the hard days, and the prayers. Keith says he considers Lonnie family now—and he wants people to see where the help actually goes.

Keep on Rollin'

Staying Active with Spring Creek Ministries' Video Productions

As previously discussed in the project post about Jon Lanier, this testimonial was part of the fundraising campaign covered under the marketing grant.

What makes this video testimonial unique among all the others is that Keith is currently an active recipient of what SCM has to offer.

Lonnie wanted this story captured because of its significance to how Spring Creek Ministries is constantly having to evolve to best serve those who need it.

Come Together, Right Now

We were in the first week of July and Ross was down at the lake, working with Lonnie on some maintenance things that needed to be done.

Jacob made his way to the lake the night before the shoot and everything was in place.

Ross had sent him a list of everything they would need for the shoot and he managed to get it all in his Ford Expedition.

Handle With Care

Lighting the Home for Video Production

The Stanfords’ home was spacious, so we knew that wouldn’t be an issue.

The only thing we wouldn’t likely make use of would be our Dana Dolly and eMotimo motion control system.

We loaded in and began setting everything up.

We used our Aputure 600C Pro for our key light with the Aputure LightDome 150 to diffuse, mounted on a Norm’s baby stand.

Our fill light was our Amaran 300C with an Amaran LightDome Mini.

Our back light was an Amaran 150C.

Filling the room was the interesting part. The living room opened up into the kitchen and there were several windows that accentuated the room.

To make use of the windows, we took one of our Aputure 1200D Pro lights and blasted it, full power, through the windows and into the kitchen.

To bring the level of the kitchen up so that the window light wasn’t so stark, we put our Aputure P300C Nova panel light on the window side.

If we could shoot in locations like this all the time, we would be set for life.

The Interview

Once we were set up and ready to go, Lonnie went and picked up Keith.

Given the nature of Keith’s condition, it’s always a gamble as to how he will feel.

Keith was having a rough day, but he didn’t show it.

He walked in, ready to go; ready to do whatever he could to help Spring Creek Ministries help others.

Keith told his story and had nothing but great things to say about Lonnie and the ministry.

He told the story of how they met, then went on to tell about how he discovered his cancer and how Lonnie and Spring Creek Ministries were there with him through the entire process.

Despite feeling bad, Keith did a wonderful job, and reiterated, several times, how important it was for him to share his story before his time is up.

We did our best to make quick work of the interview process so Keith could share his testimonial on video and go home and rest.

We wrapped up with Keith after about 30 minutes and he was on his way.

At that point, it was time to wrap all of the video production gear out of the home and let the Stanfords get back to some normalcy.

Post Production

Keith did such a great job that the edit was fairly seamless and easy to assemble. Jacob did a fantastic job crafting a story from Keith’s interview.

The most difficult part, as is often the case, was finding music. Finding music that is not too sad and not too hopeful is quite a challenge. We wanted to find the right balance to inspire hope in finding help from Spring Creek Ministries, while not going too hopeful, knowing that Keith is terminal.

In the end, Jacob found the perfect music to convey the right emotional message to back Keith’s story.
