100 Black Men of West Texas | 2024 Gala Video

This is our third year in a row to produce a gala video for the 100 Black Men of West Texas! We received the call from Brett Womble (Womphis Productions) to produce the video again this year and this time it took on a bit of a twist. Check out the video and the story below!

When we sat down with Brett, he told us this was Ted Liggett’s final year to support the 100 and he really wanted this video to center around Ted and his generosity. We knew that was something we could pull off with ease. Similar to last year’s 100 Black Men Project , Brett gathered multiple scholarship recipients to talk about their goals and aspirations for their future regarding the help of this scholarship. This particular interview shoot is always fun, because we typically get an interesting location and see how we can make it work for our needs. This was no different from last year, we filmed inside Tyler Technologies again and had some really interesting backdrops. The pallet was good, we lit it to be great! 

Alongside the interviews, Brett (along with the help of Ted’s wife, Helen) curated multiple videos of congratulations for Ted from his dear friends and family. This worked really well and made a HUGE impact on Ted at the gala itself. 

The last piece of the puzzle was, of course, getting Ted’s remarks for the video. Ted is well spoken and really kind. We wound up shooting in the conference room of his office and had a really good time making it work to our advantage as a shooting space. It’s always funny that we will spend exponentially more time setting up to video Ted than we will actually getting his remarks on camera. He’s quick and efficient. 

This project really came together well and we managed to successfully surprise Ted as well!
