Mayor Dan Pope

Welcome to our blog series centered around Season 3 of Hub City Spokes, the podcast we got to produce in partnership with the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance! Before we jump in, if you want to subscribe to the podcast or check it out on LEDA’s website, you can find it here.

Episode 6 was interesting in that we got to hear from the Mayor of the city of Lubbock, Dan Pope. He gave us a peek into how the city of Lubbock is handling the current climate and how they are planning on moving forward. I’m sure the Mayor was nearly completely exhausted after handling this national crisis on a local level, but it was still interesting to have him on set and hear what Lubbock is doing as a city to combat the virus and keep businesses alive.

One of my favorite quotes from him was something along the lines of “I don’t even like the term, essential business, because all businesses are essential.” Ross and I can totally agree, our business may not be “essential” to the general public, but it is DEFINITELY essential to us and our families. So give it a listen and let us know how you feel about it!

If you enjoyed this podcast, we’ll be posting blogs on each for the next 5 weeks after this one. Let us know what you think!
